MEET THIS AUTHOR

GeminiFox (born Stephanie Jackson) is a Saint Lucian fashion designer and poetess. A keen wielder of raw emotion, GeminiFox uses her poems to foster healing, to ignite understanding and to create connections across racial, cultural and socioeconomic lines. She is a 2023 and 2024 Best of the Bay Finalist for Best Spoken Word Artist and a 2024 Best of the Bay Finalist for Best Poet. GeminiFox is a workshop facilitator and host of Painting with Words, a monthly poetry open mic that connects creatives from Sarasota to Tampa and beyond. GeminiFox is an active member of Growhouse Tampa poetry collective and has left her mark on audiences across the Tampa Bay Area (The University of Tampa, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Tampa Chapter, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Arit Ovation of Sarasota, Streets of Paradise and As She Speaks Entertainment and more.) GeminiFox has represented herself in Growhouse Tampa Quarterly Slam, and was a 2024 representative for Womxn of the World Poetry Slam (WOWPS). Academically, GeminiFox is pursuing her associate degree in human service and plans to continue her journey to become a licensed mental health counselor. Her goal as an artist is to be a voice for the voiceless. Believing that poetry can be found in everything, she plans to utilize poetry in her future therapeutic practice.

This collection of poetry explores life, love, hard-earned lessons, and the unbreakable resilience of the human spirit. We, like the caterpillar, move through life consuming experiences, and grow in ways that are not always visible. Most often there is little change on the surface, yet deep within, our evolution is quietly taking shape. Progress seems slow. Sometimes we consume what we have to in order to stay alive not realizing that it’s what we need to transform into what we were meant to be.
