Rhyme N Chatt Interactive Poetry Organization (RNC) was formed in 1999 in Chattanooga, TN and acquired nonprofit status in 2021. We exist to provide safe platforms for the sharing and discussion of poetry where people are valued with the mantra that “we change lives one rhyme at a time.” This is done through community interactive open mic events, poetry presentations, writing workshops, author platforms and opportunities, large shows featuring live music and organization membership, which comes with a long list of benefits. Poetry is the tool that we use but the overall goal of the organization surpasses that. Most poetry is birthed from trauma, so the creation and sharing of one’s poetry is a vulnerable thing. We support and encourage writers through the judgment-free, warm and welcoming platforms that we create. We make poetry fun, removing negative stigmas often related to the artform, and challenge people to read and write more. Many creatives throughout the city credit RNC as being their first platform where they shared their poetry and where they really felt heard. We believe that once a person finds their voice, feels heard and accepted, builds their confidence and overcomes fear, they are unstoppable.
